Salisbury is the city of Wiltshire. It is a haven for outdoor and nature enthusiasts with its easy access to the impressive coastal scenery of neighbouring counties. Not forgetting the extraordinary Salisbury Cathedral for the history followers.

Located on Salisbury Plain is the famous landmark, Stonehenge. A ring of stones stands tall and aligns towards the sunrise on the summer solstice and sunset at winter solstice. An extraordinary sight to behold and a special place to many.

Salisbury Charter Markets is open twice a week in the bustling marketplace and has been bringing people together for over 800 years! The Cross Keys Arcade, Old George Mall and The Maltings are the three main thriving shopping centres you you will find in Salisbury to fulfil your shopping needs.

Retiring to a town in Wiltshire

Warminster is situated on the edge of the West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If walking or cycling is your chosen pastime, you’ll enjoy exploring the many paths and trails.

The town itself is a friendly, welcoming market town with a variety of independent shops and a theatre. There is a beautiful boating lake with a nearby café which makes for a great afternoon out.

Marlborough is a dynamic market town with plenty of things to do and see. The quaint streets provide a scenic backdrop for the bustling market every Wednesday and Saturday.

Furthermore, there are many events that run throughout the year, including a literature festival and steeplechase races. The college summer school offers weekly courses too.

Swindon is a busy town well known for being the centre of business. It’s conveniently located for ease of access to Reading, Oxford, Bristol and London. The town centre has been undergoing significant regeneration over the years which has hugely improved the culture offerings.

Royal Wootton Bassett is a historic market town that dates back from the Saxon times. It has a weekly market and a monthly farmers market in addition to lots of interesting shops and eateries.

The ‘Royal’ prefix was added in October 2011 due to the recognition of the repatriation of UK service men and women as a result of war. The town is closely associated with nearby RAF base at Lyneham.

For a pleasant walk, there is a trail from the town to the nearby village of Cricklade.
