My Future Living enabled retiree Fred Lawrence move to dream Cornish home
Renting an apartment in a retirement development by the sea has given 78 year old Fred Lawrence the life-long dream of daily coastal walks.
Researchers from the European Centre for Environment & Human Health at the University of Exeter have found that the closer a person lived to the sea, the better their health.
Retiree, Fred is enjoying all the benefits of the Cornish air and his proximity to the sea.
Fred, with the help of his son, found his ideal one bedroom apartment through My Future Living and is grateful to have found such a wonderful place to retire in. Originally from Glasgow, Fred has moved around the country and lived in Cardiff before he finally settled in the pretty town of Penzance.
With some of the milder climates in the UK, Penzance appealed to Fred for many reasons. As an avid walker, when Fred moved he wanted to continue with his daily four hour walks along the beautiful Cornish coastline.
Unfortunately, due some recent health issues, Fred has had to limit his walks but says he still gets great pleasure out of sitting by the seaside and breathing it all in and that it always makes him feel better.
Fred had never visited Cornwall before, but his son was keen for him to make the move from where he was living in Maidstone. After just one visit, Fred said it was an easy decision to make which was made even easier by the helpful staff at My Future Living. “The Manager is very kind and accommodating and I settled into my new life very quickly.”
Only retired for four years, Fred enjoys the social side of living in the Trafalgar Court retirement development. He comments: “I look forward to our regular Wednesday coffee mornings where we all get a chance to chat and socialise – I appreciate this even more after the months of lockdown.”
“The gardens are lovely, so tidy and well looked after. The whole development feels like home and the people couldn’t be friendlier. “
He concludes, “Moving to an unfamiliar place could have been quite daunting but I am really enjoying retirement life and all the benefits of being close to the sea and living in a place where I feel safe and secure.”
